Professor Kim​ is professor of strategy at INSEAD and co-director of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute in Fontainebleau, France. Along with Professor Renée Mauborgne, he is the author of the over-4-million-copy global bestseller Blue Ocean Strategy. Together again they have just released a new book Beyond Disruption: Innovate and Achieve Growth without Displacing Industries, Companies, or Jobs.


To date, teaching materials from Blue Ocean Strategy and its follow-up Blue Ocean Shift have been adopted by more than 2,800 universities across the globe. And in 2022, Harvard Business Review selected Blue Ocean Strategy as one of the most influential and innovative texts of the last 100 years. So I am excited to be able to spend an hour in Professor Kim's company to explore the highlights of his research, and how his they can be applied to our members' businesses.

    W. Chan Kim is the Distinguished Professor of Strategy and International Management Emeritus and the Co-Director of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute. Prior to joining INSEAD, he was a professor at the University of Michigan Business School, USA. He has served as an advisor to several countries and multinational corporations in Europe, the U.S., and the Asia Pacific region.

    He is the co-author of the just released book, Beyond Disruption: Innovate and Achieve Growth without Displacing Industries, Companies, or Jobs (Harvard Business Review Press, May 2023) and the over 4 million copy global bestseller Blue Ocean Strategy, which is recognized as one of the most iconic and impactful strategy books ever written, and the New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Los Angeles Times bestseller Blue Ocean Shift. To date, blue ocean strategy and blue ocean shift teaching materials have been adopted by over 2800 universities across the globe. In 2022, Harvard Business Review selected Blue Ocean Strategy as one of the most influential and innovative articles published in Harvard Business Review over the last 100 years.
