Event Details
According to government statistics, in 2021 the total value of sake exports reached over 40 billion yen, achieving a record-high for the 12th consecutive year. Furthermore, the number of doburoku licences - a sort of local home brewery - grew by 70% since 2012. Not only is production on the rise, but local economies are seeing efforts to turn the tasty rice wine into a tourism resource start to pay dividends.
We will open this social event with a short presentation by a sake (nihonshu, seishu) specialist, who will explain the process of sake brewing from rice sheaf to glass, as well as the different types and flavour characteristics, and how to enjoy it fully. This will be followed by a tasting of selected types of sake, which will set the mood until 9pm, when we will board the Lady Crystal cruise for a turn around Tokyo Bay lit at night.
*Capacity is limited. Please register early if you would like to attend.
