For example, during the briefing Agathe Demarais, Global Forecasting Director at The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) will shed light on The EIU's medium-term political and economic forecast, as well as the key areas of risk that executives must watch. Nobel LaureateProfessor Daniel Kahneman, will share insights from his recently released Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgement, as well as his best seller Thinking, fast and slow. Nadav Eyal, author and award-winning journalist will unpack why Revolt is the status quo (not just the title of his best seller) and the implications for globalisation, politics and society in general.

    Daniel Kahneman is Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University, and a fellow of the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr. Kahneman has held the position of professor of psychology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (1970-1978), the University of British Columbia (1978-1986), and the University of California, Berkeley (1986-1994). Dr. Kahneman is a member of the National Academy of Science, the Philosophical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the Society of Experimental Psychologists, and the Econometric Society. He has been the recipient of many awards, among them the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the American Psychological Association (1982) and the Grawemeyer Prize (2002), both jointly with Amos Tversky, the Warren Medal of the Society of Experimental Psychologists (1995), the Hilgard Award for Career Contributions to General Psychology (1995), the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences (2002), the Lifetime Contribution Award of the American Psychological Association (2007), and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2013). Dr. Kahneman holds honorary degrees from numerous Universities.

    Professor Koleka Mlisana is the Executive Manager: Academic Affairs, Research & Quality Assurance at the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), since July 2018. Prior to this she was the HOD: Medical Microbiology at UKZN/IALCH; also served a term as a member of the NHLS Board; and up until recently was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Resistance. She has previously been an active HIV/AIDS researcher for over a decade focussing on HIV prevention and pathogenesis, working at the Centre for the AIDS Program of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA), Durban. She has undertaken seminal research which has revealed how the body responds during acute HIV infection. Her current research interests include TB diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance as well as sexually transmitted infections. Amongst other national commitments, Prof Mlisana is the current Co-chair of the Covid-19 Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC), she recently chaired the Pathology/Laboratory subcommittee of the first established MAC for Covid-19; is a member of the Board of Trustees for the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) as well as of the Medical and Dental Board of the HPCSA/Medical Scientist Committee. She has nurtured and mentored many young scientists and is passionate about equipping the next generation of leaders and scientists.

    Statistician-General, Statistics South Africa

    Risenga Maluleke was appointed South Africa’s 2nd Statistician-General in November, 2017. Prior to November, 2017, Mr. Maluleke was the Deputy Director-General for Statistical Collections and Outreach. He has been with Statistics South Africa for the past 20 years. He was responsible for the provincial offices’ data collection for censuses and sample surveys; international statistical development and communications. Mr. Maluleke has also been instrumental in International Statistical Development. Mr. Maluleke has represented South Africa on countless occasions and has extensive experience in international and diplomatic matters. He has been instrumental in managing Stats SA’s participation in international meetings such as the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC). He holds a BSc in mathematical statistics from the University of Limpopo and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Science from the University of Stellenbosch. He has also completed Senior Executive Programmes from the University of the Witwatersrand and Harvard Business Schools.

    Agathe is a leading voice on global issues, with a specific interest in trade, sanctions, European affairs, Russia and the Middle East. She draws upon her extensive diplomatic experience in emerging markets, deep policy-making knowledge and her background in investment banking to help a wide variety of audiences make sense of complex developments. As The EIU’s Global Forecasting Director, Agathe oversees the publication of The EIU global/macro outlook. Agathe conducts high-level meetings with clients on global economic and political developments, presents at conferences on a wide array of topics, and is a sought-after commentator for the media. Throughout her career in both the public and private sectors, Agathe has developed particular expertise on Europe, Russia/CIS, and the Middle East. Prior to joining The EIU, Agathe worked in the diplomatic corps of the French Treasury. She spent five years in Russia and three years in the Middle East, where she developed her knowledge of sanctions and policymaking. She also worked in investment banking in Russia and the US. Agathe has Master’s degrees from Sciences Po and Columbia University, where she studied with a Fulbright scholarship. Agathe is a Trustee of the board of The Economist Charitable Trust.

    Hennie joined DHL Express seventeen years ago as MD for Central Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands (CENIO). He then moved on to become MD for DHL Express South Africa where he was instrumental in driving change and implementing new innovative processes and strategies for the ZA business division. Hennie, a supply chain and international shipping specialist, became CEO for DHL Express Sub Saharan Africa in September 2015. In his current role, he is responsible for Finance, Information Technology, Operations, Customer Service, Human Resources and Commercial activities in the Sub-Saharan region. He has 51 countries and territories, over 4000 employees, over 250 facilities, five regional hubs, and 15 dedicated DHL aircraft under his guidance. Prior to joining DHL Express, he served as Managing Director for Olivetti Lexikon and as the FM and GM for Multichoice Africa in South Africa. Heymans is highly passionate about his employees and regards employee satisfaction and engagement as a key component to cultivating business commercial success. He is married with two children.

He has extensive experience working in the healthcare sector in Africa and has built a rich career within the pharmaceutical and medical research fields. He has held positions at Groote Schuur Hospital, one of the largest public sector hospitals in Africa, as well as at the University of Cape Town, Servier and Novartis. Ian joined BD 9 years ago and has been the General Manager for BD Africa for the past 4 years. In his current positions Ian is responsible for spearheading the planning, development and implementation of results-oriented strategies to advance the company’s business goals for the region. Ian is passionate about advancing healthcare in Africa and believes that through pubic private partnerships a more efficient healthcare system can be developed to deliver better quality care to African patients.

    Country Manager, Pfizer

    Rhulani Nhlaniki is Pfizer’s Country Manager: South Africa and Cluster Lead for sub-Saharan Africa. In this role he oversees Pfizer’s strategy to improve the health of every patient in Africa through providing access to Pfizer’s breakthrough medicines and vaccines and ensuring the provision of quality health care through investments and partnerships. He also serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Innovative Pharmaceutical association South Africa (IPASA) and is a Board Member of the US-South Africa Business Council. Rhulani joined Pfizer in 2016 in the role of Innovative Health Cluster Lead for sub-Saharan Africa. With over 19 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, he has held various leadership roles, including Group Country Manager for GSK's Southern Africa Region. Rhulani is qualified as a pharmacist from the University of the Western Cape and holds an MBA from North West University, South Africa.

    Stavros Nicolaou is the Aspen Pharmacare Group’s Senior Executive responsible for Strategic Trade Development. Previously he was CEO of Aspen’s Export Business. Aspen is Africa’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturer and a now world leader in Anaesthetics and injectable anti-coagulants. Aspen is one of South Africa’s most globalised multinational companies with a presence in over 50 geographies globally, with 26 manufacturing facilities across 6 continents. He was instrumental in introducing the first generic ARV’s on the African Continent developed by Aspen, which has gone on to save hundreds of thousands of lives in South Africa and on the African Continent.

    Nicolaou has over 30 years’ experience in the South African and International Pharmaceutical Industry and is a previous winner of the SA Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) Health Care Marketer of the year Award. He was a previous recipient Monte Rubenstein Award for proficiency in Pharmaceutics from the Wits University Pharmacy Faculty. He was awarded, the Order of the Lion of St Mark by the Greek Orthodox Pope and Patriarch, Theodoros II. He has been inducted as a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA), one of the highest honours bestowed by the PSSA, and was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science in Medicine from Wits University.

    He has been a speaker at a number of conferences, including the Economist Roundtable, the World Economic Forum (WEF) and recently delivered a lecture on ARV developments at the Raigon Institute, a JV between Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

In 2016 he was widely credited for a series of short documentaries that explored the real possibility of a Trump victory. A winner of the British Chevening scholarship, he received a master's degree in global politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a LLB from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Eyal serves as the chairman for the Israeli Movement for Freedom of Information.
