For women, by women, this event will be moderated by Melanie Noronha, the General Manager for the Economist Group in Dubai, and supported by Ivana Carapic, the network development lead for the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network in MENA.

This working lunch, in the private dining room of Amazonico in DIFC, will comprise an off-the-record discussion with an open agenda, to explore some of the key issues facing companies operating in the region, through a female lens.

It will also be a fabulous opportunity for some of the UAE's most senior businesswomen to expand their networks and get to know some of their peers working in different sectors.

    Senior manager, Policy & Insights at Economist Impact

    Melanie is a senior research manager at Economist Impact and the general manager of The Economist office in Dubai. She has over ten years of experience delivering consulting and thought leadership projects to public, private and non-for-profit organisations. Based in Dubai, she leads the Middle East and Africa team on research across food sustainability, recycling and the circular economy, renewable energy, fintech, trade and supply chains. She is a specialist in advanced recycling technologies and international trade.

    Melanie is a seasoned moderator; she has chaired numerous panel discussions and presented Economist Impact's research at global in-person and virtual conferences.

    Before joining The Economist Group, she was a senior analyst at MEED Insight, a research and consulting firm serving clients in the Middle East and North Africa. At MEED, she developed her expertise in delivering bespoke market studies and financial modelling across a range of sectors spanning construction, finance, power and water, oil and gas and renewable energy. She held previous posts at the Office of the Chief Economist at the Dubai International Financial Centre and at the San Francisco Center for Economic Development. Melanie has an MSc in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St Andrews and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

    Senior Network Development Manager at Economist Intelligence Corporate Network

    As the Senior Network Development Manager, Ivana Carapic is responsible for maintaining and expanding The Economist Intelligence Corporate Network (EICN) in the MENA region. Together with the Network Director, she is nourishing good relations with EICN's exclusive members through regular communication and updates. One of the core Ivana's responsibilities will be to ensure The EICN members have access to the exclusive networking events for business leaders and objective, third-party insightful perspectives of The Economist Group.

    Prior to joining The Economist Intelligence Corporate Network, she worked for macroeconomic research and consultancy firm, based in the UK, as Country Director. She worked in different markets from Ghana, Indonesia, UAE, Papua New Guinea and most recently, Tanzania. Before this, she worked as a Project Coordinator and International Consultant for an independent consultancy, based in Cyprus. In this position, she gained experience working in Belgium, Latvia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan.

    Ivana holds a Master's degree in Project Management from the Faculty of Organizational Science, University of Belgrade and a Bachelor's degree in Greek Language and Literature from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. She speaks Serbian, English, and Greek and she is able to communicate in Russian.
