Event Details

Once again, we are delighted to invite EICN members to gaze into the crystal ball with Tom Standage, deputy editor of The Economist and editor of its future-gazing annual, The World Ahead.

The Economist is known for its thought provoking predictions and challenges to conventional thinking. These are given special focus in The World Ahead.

The World Ahead 2023 will build on more than three decades of publishing success. This will be the 37th edition. It will consider the interlocking crises facing the world in the year ahead: the global consequences of the war in Ukraine for geopolitics, energy and food supplies; the struggle to control inflation, a side-effect of the pandemic magnified by the war; the energy crunch's impact on the transition to renewables; and China's uncertain post-pandemic path.

A special section, "Understand This", will explain the jargon and buzzwords readers will need to know in 2023, such as blue hydrogen, frozen conflict, dead pool and post-quantum cryptography.

On 8 December, Tom will bring to life the content of this year's publication exclusively for members of the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network.

At this exclusive event, which will bring together EICN members from all nine of our network cities, Tom will join us online from Singapore to present his compilation of predictions for 2023, and explore some of the world's most pressing issues for the year ahead.

For Seoul we will be offering members the opportunity to join us physically. Those who attend in-person - at 6pm at Kensington Hotel Yeouido - will be able to enjoy dinner & drinks.

If you'd like to attend online, please register from here.
