The pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation worldwide and motivated companies to start investing in digital technologies, updating their systems and processes to catch up with the rapid shift from analogue to digital in all spheres of life. The ability of companies (and countries) to adapt to these changes will define their long-term competitiveness in the global market.
A.I., big data, automation, and the increasing adoption of all kinds of digital devices and software are taking place, while companies in Japan still struggle to catch up with the transformation of the most important chain in the corporate value system: the workforce.
Japan's digital preparedness and competitiveness lag behind its economic development and digital transformation ambition. In 2020, Japan ranked 22nd in digital talent and 27th in digital competitiveness, and has a low penetration in areas such as e-commerce, mobile banking, and digital government-service usage. For Japanese companies to be competitive in the global market, the most important thing is to secure the development of a digitally-savvy workforce and talent, and one way to achieve digital transformation is through rapid reskilling of large numbers of employees across all industries. Japan, as an aging society, would need to make sure that this digital proficiency reskilling effort doesn't leave anyone behind. Successful digital organizations align their business strategies with their efforts to develop the digital workforce, and incorporate milestones, performance metrics & accountability to achieve these goals.
Join us and our panel of distinguished speakers as we examine some of these questions:
- How do we use data and analytics to bring everyone on board, both digital natives and digital immigrants (the generation that was born before the widespread adoption of digital technology)?;
- What are the key pillars of the multi-stage process of reskilling?
- What mix of approaches should be used? What kinds of platforms could companies use to achieve these goals?
- What are some of the world's best practices in this field?
- How could companies use data analytics to measure employees' KPIs?
- How should companies design and implement their corporate digital culture, managing the balance between technology and creativity?
