Dr. Tae Yong Jung is currently a professor at the GSIS and Director of Research Center for Global Sustainability in Yonsei University. Before he joined GSIS, He was a professor at the KDI School of Public Policy & Management. Prior to the KDI School, he was a Principal Climate Change Specialist at the Asian Development Bank. He was seconded to the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) located in the Republic of Korea as the Deputy Executive Director.

Before ADB, he was working at the World Bank as a senior energy economist. He was also formerly the Project Leader in Climate Policy Project at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) of Japan and Senior Fellow and Director at Korea Energy Economics Institute.

Educated at Seoul National University (BA) and at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (MA and Ph.D.), he was a Visiting Researcher at the US National Energy Laboratory, the Joint Global Change Research Institute, University of Maryland and a Joint Research Fellow at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), and a Visiting Fellow at Kyoto University Japan.

Heekyung (Jo) Min is the Executive Vice President Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Global Creating Shared Value(CSV) of CJ Cheiljedang in Korea. Her role as a business leader and social innovator is to create a sustainable future for the CJ by driving and coordinating CSR and Sustainability efforts. CJ Group was recognized as one of the ’50 Change the World Companies’ by Fortune magazine in 2017 for its innovative efforts to create positive value for society and create jobs for retired seniors through the ‘Senior Parcel Delivery Project’.



Much of her recent work has focused on promoting the importance of sustainable business around the globe. Her commitment to sustainable business was developed through her experience in both government and private companies. In her role as the Director General of the Business Opportunity and Investment Promotion Bureau at the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) in Incheon, Korea, she was responsible for promoting Korea to the global society to advocate the building of a new city bordering Seoul. She has had extensive experience in finance, HR, and cross-cultural management consulting while living in New York, Tokyo, and London.



She has been active in promoting a diverse culture in Korea, and served as an advisor for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and as a board member of the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education (KIGEPE). CJ Group actively helps to empower girls in seven developing countries, by providing access to quality education through a strategic partnership with UNESCO.



She holds a BA from Seoul National University, an MBA from Columbia University, and a Ph.D from aSSIST Seoul Business School. She is an advisory board member of Asia New Zealand Foundation, and an independent board member for a public company in Switzerland.

Lena Schipper is Seoul bureau chief for The Economist. Previous to this role she worked as assistant news editor in London. Before joining the paper in 2016, Lena was a freelance journalist in Beirut and a staff reporter on the business and economics desk of Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, a leading German weekly. Prior to becoming a journalist, she worked as a researcher for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, for the German Institute of International and Security Affairs in Berlin, and as a political-risk consultant for clients across the Middle East and Africa. She studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics and International Relations at Oxford University.

Takuji Okubo is the North Asia Director of The Economist Corporate Network, managing the Networks in Japan and in South Korea.

Prior to joining The Economist Group, Takuji was the Managing Director and Chief Economist at Japan Macro Advisors, serving global fortune 500 companies and financial institutions in Japan and abroad. In his past career, Takuji was a Chief Economist at Societe Generale, in charge of Japan and of South Korea, and a senior economist at Merrill Lynch and at Goldman Sachs. Outside his role at ECN, Takuji also serves as a non-executive director at Japan Risk Forum, an association of Chief Risk Officers among Japanese financial institutions.

Takuji holds B.A in Economics from Tokyo University and while at the university he was a recipient of prestigious INOUE scholarship. He holds MBA from INSEAD and Msc. In Economics from UPF in Barcelona. Apart from work, he enjoys motor-cycling, scuba-diving, cooking as well as worrying about the future of the Japanese economy.
