Kenneth Hwang is the Leader for Mercer’s Total Rewards Solution (TRS) business in South Korea.

With the largest database in areas of local, local plus and expatriate compensation and benefits, Mercer TRS provides data-driven insights to multinational organizations and local companies to help them determine the best reward strategy.

Experiences

He brings rich experiences in Korean pension market by leading various client projects in Korea in regards to actuarial valuation, ERSA pension plan design and implementation, multinational Mercer & Acquisition project in the area of pension and employee benefit.

He also led projects in regards to M&A project in Korea and globally (clients undisclosed) and served as special advisor for Ministry of Employment & Labor’s pension reform committee.

Prior to joining Mercer Korea, he worked as a pension consultant in New York.

Education & Recognition

He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from State University of New York at Albany.

In 2019, he earned Commendation from the Financial Services Commission for his effort and contribution in financial sector.

Robert Yu is the Chief Operating Officer at Yuyu Pharma and its subsidiaries. He is also the Club Leader of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of Korea and a member of the Columbia Business School Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Advisory Board. Prior to joining Yuyu Pharma in Korea, Robert joined Novartis in 2004 as a Sales Representative in New York and has been recognized for his sales achievements. He was also a Training and Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) Manager at Novartis Korea and Asia-Pacific based out of Singapore.

Robert earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Trinity College ('97) in Hartford, Connecticut and his MBA from Columbia Business School ('03) in New York. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Pharmaceutical Science at Sunkyunkwan University in Seoul, Korea. Robert also was an exchange student at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and Beijing Language and Cultural University in Beijing, China.

KyoungWoo Kim is a Senior Vice President (SVP), Consulting Director in Marsh Risk Consulting based in Korea. He is responsible for developing risk management solutions and delivering risk management services to clients in various industry sectors.

He joined Marsh in 2003. He is a leader for risk consulting team in Korea. He was elected a SVP in 2018. He transferred to the regional office in Singapore in 2015 and worked in the regional risk consulting team for about 3 years and returned to Korea in 2018.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in risk management which includes technical risk engineering & mitigation solutions, risk finance (insurance) optimization options, strategic risk consulting such as business continuity management.

Prior to joining Marsh, he worked for Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance company and its subsidiary as a technical risk engineer for about 6 years.

He graduated from Sungkyunkwan University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.

Takuji Okubo is the North Asia Director of The Economist Corporate Network, managing the Networks in Japan and in South Korea.

Prior to joining The Economist Group, Takuji was the Managing Director and Chief Economist at Japan Macro Advisors, serving global fortune 500 companies and financial institutions in Japan and abroad. In his past career, Takuji was a Chief Economist at Societe Generale, in charge of Japan and of South Korea, and a senior economist at Merrill Lynch and at Goldman Sachs. Outside his role at ECN, Takuji also serves as a non-executive director at Japan Risk Forum, an association of Chief Risk Officers among Japanese financial institutions.

Takuji holds B.A in Economics from Tokyo University and while at the university he was a recipient of prestigious INOUE scholarship. He holds MBA from INSEAD and Msc. In Economics from UPF in Barcelona. Apart from work, he enjoys motor-cycling, scuba-diving, cooking as well as worrying about the future of the Japanese economy.

Dimitry Rakin is the Associate Director of the Economist Corporate Network North Asia, where he is responsible for events planning, private briefings, data analysis and research in Japan and South Korea. He is an expert on Japanese economy, business and trade as well as on the history and politics of the East Asia region.

Prior to joining The Economist Group, Dimitry was a Senior Officer of Economic Affairs in the Trade Delegation Unit of the Russian Embassy in Japan connecting Russian and Japanese companies, promoting Russia as an investment destination and facilitating Russia-Japan intergovernmental negotiations on economic cooperation. He started his career as an editor covering East Asia in one of the biggest Russian news agencies (ITAR-TASS) working in the central office and Tokyo Bureau of the agency.

Dimitry has an MA degree in Japanese language and history from the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and was also a Japanese government (MEXT) research scholar at Meiji University’s Graduate School of Law, Tokyo. In addition to native Russian language skills, he is fluent in English and Japanese.
