Gina’s economics background started at the University of Cape Town where she mastered in advanced macroeconomics and econometric modelling. Following academics, Gina started her economics career at Standard Bank, representing Macquarie Securities and Barclays Capital / Absa Capital as their respective Lead South Africa Economists over the years. Gina joined Citibank in 2012 in London as a Director, fully responsible for all South Africa economic and political research coverage. Gina recently took over the Head of Research position for South Africa. Gina is consistently top-rated in local and global analyst rankings and is passionate about mentoring young professionals and promoting gender equality.

Isaah Mhlanga (Chief Economist at Alexander Forbes)

In this position, he’s responsible for formulating the macroeconomic strategy for the business, which entails identifying large-scale economic risks and opportunities that benefit the business, its clients and investment processes. Isaah also helps execute strategic objectives that are in line with the priorities of Alexander Forbes and drives outcomes-based investment internally and externally. He is a regular columnist for Business Day where he writes on macroeconomic policy and financial markets developments that affect the investment landscape. Before joining Alexander Forbes, Isaah was the senior economist at Rand Merchant Bank, where he formulated macroeconomic strategy by analysing and forecasting the global and domestic macroeconomy. Prior to that, he was an economist at Absa Capital and National Treasury’s senior economist for macroeconomic policy.

Dr Martyn Davies is the Managing Director of Emerging Markets & Africa at Deloitte as well as Dean of the Deloitte Alchemy School of Management. He leads Deloitte Insights, the firm’s thought leadership division, Knowledge Management and is a member of the Deloitte global economics team.
Over his career, he has been a trusted advisor to the C-Suite at a large array of multinational firms on their market entry & engagement strategies in emerging markets and Africa. He has also conducted a large amount of advisory work on behalf of the public sector having advised a number of governments in numerous regions.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Martyn founded Frontier Advisory, a strategy and corporate finance advisory firm that was subsequently acquired by Deloitte. Dr Davies has previously been ranked the # 1 analyst in South Africa in the “African Economies & Markets” category as awarded by the Financial Mail in its prestigious Annual Analysts of the Year awards.
