Robert is the Director of the Economist Corporate Network based in Dubai and covering the MENA region. Robert works closely with network members to help inform their business strategies through political, economic and operational insight and to connect them with their senior leadership peers.
Robert is a business journalist, editor and publisher with nearly 25 years of experience covering a wide variety of sectors, including hospitality, retail, construction, energy and transport, and a particular interest in human capital management.
He is an accomplished event chairman, moderator and speaker.
Robert completed an MBA at the University of Leicester School of Business in 2012 and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nottingham.

Barsali is a Manager in The EIU's Industry Briefing operations where she oversees the subscription services across three of our industries, with a special focus on consumer goods and retail. Previously she has been a business journalist and editor covering e-commerce, hospitality and education. Barsali holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Post-graduate degree in Media and Communication.

Tom joined Spinneys to lead the fresh Protein commercial team in 2017 after 15 years working in the UK in commercial roles focussed on fresh categories at Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer with a particular focus on meat. Following a senior restructure in August 2019, Tom was promoted to the Operating Board to jointly lead the full commercial team for Spinneys UAE/Oman and Waitrose UAE. He also leads the four international sourcing offices with responsibility for developing direct sourcing relationships and strategy. Since taking on his new role, Tom has restructured the commercial team and implemented a new category management approach to commercial planning and management which has driven steady like for like growth since November last year. Tom is the Chair on Spinneys Coronavirus Task Force and leads the business to manage the response from both an operational and consumer perspective. Tom has previously worked in the co-ordination of several food crises in the UK that dramatically impacted consumer habits including two outbreaks of Avian Flu and the Horsemeat Scandal.

Ana oversees The Economist Intelligence Unit's industry subscription services in London, managing websites, reports, data and forecasts across six industry sectors and acting as lead analyst for our healthcare and automotive analysis. Ana also works closely with clients in those two sectors, particularly on projects related to value-based health and healthcare policymaking. Ana is an experienced analyst who has previously spent time specialising in global economic and business development as well as analysis of healthcare policy. She has a particular interest in the transition countries of Eastern Europe. Ana holds a Master's degree in English from Cambridge University.

Luca has been with Perfetti Van Melle for 27 years spending his last 23 years in Asia, first in China as Marketing Director and Managing Director, then as Vice President, COO and President of the APAC region based in Singapore. He took the role of President South Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in 2019 moving to Dubai. Perfetti Van Melle is one of the largest confectionery players in the World with brands like Mentos, Chupa Chups, Smint, Alpenliebe, Center Fresh, Airheads, Fruittella and many others.

Mustafa Shamseldin is Senior VP & CMO – Africa, Middle East & South Asia at PepsiCo. He has more than 23 years of general management, sales and marketing experience leading small and large scale enterprises covering more than 50 countries across four continents. He managed multi-billion dollar businesses, led some of the most valuable global brands and trademarks, created and launched numerous successful products and innovations, and built new brands from scratch. In his role as CMO for AMESA sector, he leads the development of PepsiCo’s total portfolio of foods and beverages across one of the company’s key geographies and future growth drivers, with responsibility over the marketing, insights and innovation functions. He is also a member of the PepsiCo’s Global Marketing Leadership Council.
Mustafa has been with PepsiCo since 2008 when he started as the Marketing Director for Pepsi Cola Egypt, before moving to different roles across the region including GCC Marketing Director, General Manager Saudi & Yemen Beverages, Vice President for Sales & New Business Development and Senior VP for foods in Asia, Middle East and North Africa. Prior to PepsiCo, Mustafa worked across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region in different companies including Procter & Gamble, Henkel, and Americana Foods.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering from the American University in Cairo, and has attended executive education and development programs at Wharton Business School and Cranfield School of Management. His passions are social and economic development and the support for startups and small businesses, which he has fulfilled through mentorship, judging in major startup competitions, as well as contributing to key publications as a guest writer. Mustafa is currently based in Dubai, UAE.
