Maya is a global leader and seasoned C-suite executive in high growth digital and technology companies. her career journey has spanned two decades and 3 continents focused on mobile, consumer and social businesses at Twitter, Google, Microsoft and Cisco. She has also successfully spearheaded digital transformation at Samsung & Conde Nast.

Most recently, Maya spent 7 years at Twitter in a variety of roles including VP of Global strategy as well as Managing Director of Twitter’s Asia Pacific business. Over her career, Maya has managed large teams from diverse cultural contexts having worked and lived in the US, France, India and Singapore. She brings deep experptise scaling businesses globally including key markets such as China, Latin America, India & SE.Asia.

She serves as a board member of ASX listed edu-tech company OpenLearning where she oversaw their IPO journey, as
well as Asia’s leading Insurtech venture Aviva Singlife Holdings.

Maya is deeply purposeful about championing inclusion in the workplace and sustainability & environmental causes. Maya

Mr. Micah Shepard serves on Schaeffler Asia Pacific Board as President AAM Division & also President Southeast Asia sub-region, based in Thailand. Prior to this role, Mr. Shepard was VP Purchasing & Supplier Management Asia Pacific, based in Shanghai China. Prior to joining Schaeffler, Mr. Shepard worked for Cummins & Daimler Chrysler in areas of operation and supply chain organization.

Mr. Shepard holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Finance from Tennessee State University, an EMBA from Rutgers University, and an Executive Education from Shanghai University.

Doris Sohmen-Pao is Chief Executive Officer at the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI). Her career spans across education, human capital and media. Before HCLI, Doris worked as an advisor to the Singapore Public Service Division, helping develop relationships and synergies between the public and private sector. Doris has worked in a number of educational institutions and was part of the inaugural leadership team at Yale-NUS College where she was responsible for all non-academic matters. She also helmed the MBA programmes at Singapore Management University and INSEAD and has been deeply involved with Princeton University where she has served on the Board of Trustees. Previously, Doris led recruiting and HR at Bain & Co.’s Southeast Asia practice as Director of Human Capital. Her media experience stems from her work at Time Inc. where she was based in their London and Hong Kong offices and led their international new media practice.

In addition to HCLI, Doris currently serves on the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, Singapore National Gallery, Institute for Human Resource Professionals boards and is a member of the EXCO of the Singapore chapter of the International Women’s Forum. Doris graduated with a B.A. in Politics and Environmental Studies from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard University.

William Thomas (Director, South-east Asia of The Economist Corporate Network)

William Thomas

Director, South-east Asia of The Economist Corporate Network

William Thomas is the Director of the Economist Corporate Network in South-east Asia. An experienced advisor to senior business and government leaders, he helps organisations understand the strategic, operational, and talent implications of geopolitical changes.

William holds a PhD in public policy from George Mason University in the US, as well as a degree in economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA. His academic research has centered on managing change in large, multinational organisations, with an emphasis on organisational culture.

William is a retired United States Air Force lieutenant colonel, having spent much of his 21-year career as a strategic planner for complex operations such as humanitarian assistance and counterterrorism. He was Associate Professor of Political Science at the US Air Force Academy, and later taught at Georgetown University in Washington DC and as a Fulbright Scholar at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Having worked in Asia since 2012, William has focused on leadership development and organisational change as a consultant, leadership coach, and training facilitator.
