Malaysia’s Minister for Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change

YB Yeo Bee Yin was sworn in as Minister in July 2018 and is Member of Parliament for Bakri, Johor. She joined politics and won a seat in a state legislative assembly in 2013. Since taking office as Minister, YB Yeo has made several bold steps in reforming how Malaysia manages its environment and research. She has announced goals to increase renewable energy from 2% to 20% of total energy generation by 2030, as well as plans to reform the electricity market and improve energy efficiency. In early 2019, YB Yeo commissioned a task force to develop the green finance roadmap for Malaysia.

YB Yeo is an engineer by training. She graduated from University Technology Petronas with a first-class honours degree in bachelor of chemical engineering, and from University of Cambridge, UK with commendation in MPhil. in advanced chemical engineering. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship for her post- graduate studies.

Suresh was appointed CEO of edotco in August 2014. Suresh was led the transformation that has produced one of the fastest growing tower companies in the world in terms of towers and tenancies, with growth from new build as well as M&A. Before joining edotco, he served as chief corporate and operations officer of Celcom and has held senior roles at Axiata and Dialog in Axiata Group. Suresh has also worked with Maxis and Boston Consulting Group.

Antony Lee is CEO of AIG Malaysia. Prior to this appointment, he was CEO of AIG Vietnam from 2011 where his responsibilities included the development of one of the AIG’s key growth countries in the Asia Pacific region.

Antony began his career at AIG in 2001 as vice president of business development with AIG’s Software International JV based in Malaysia. Antony holds a bachelor of science degree and a diploma in architecture from University College London and is also a graduate of AIG’s executive development management program. He was also deputy chairman of the General Insurance Association of Malaysia.

Angelia Chin-Sharpe is CEO and country head for Malaysia for BNP Paribas Asset Management. She has over 20 years of experience in banking, capital markets and asset management. Angelia joined BNP Paribas Asset Management in 2007 and was responsible for the successful set up of our businesses in Malaysia. She was also head of South-east Asia institutional sales while posted in Singapore in 2010 before moving back to Malaysia in 2012.

Angelia holds a bachelor of commerce, majoring in accounting from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. She has completed her chartered Islamic finance professional exams with INCEIF and is registered as a chartered professional in Islamic Finance (CPIF) with The Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals.

Angelia was ranked 14th most influential women in Islamic banking and finance in the WOMANi2019 report. She was ranked 34th in 2018. She was also awarded Community Achievement Award 2017 by the Malaysia Australian Alumni Council for her social work at The Lost Food Project.

Angelia also serves as president of The Lost Food Project; treasurer with the Malaysian Association of Asset Managers (MAAM); member of the SC-BNM joint climate change committee, as well as member of the reviewing committee for the continuing professional certification with the Securities Industry Development Corporation.
